A new ‘Phishing’ attack is circulating, preying on the demand for Windows 10 updates.
Cisco has highlighted the technique, and shows how to spot the fake emails.
The warning is especially severe, as the damage done by the virus is particularly harsh, encrypting all your files and demanding a ‘ransom’ to get them back. There is no way for the good guys to remove this damage I’m afraid…
Basically, the message here, is don’t click on any emails inviting you to get your upgrade. Once you have had the popup in your system tray (near your clock) then wait for it to again popup and download from there.
